Banana Date Muffins with a seed topping

Banana Date Muffins with a seed topping

Originally, I wanted to make a super healthy muffin recipe for my Mother’s Day Brunch to balance things out a little…Then a few days later I decided there are plenty of days to be super healthy, but on Mother’s Day you and your mom should be able to splurge a little.

Banana Date Muffins

So I was left with lots of bananas ripening and a new recipe to find. I was thinking Chocolate Banana Muffins, something super decadent…Then I realized we had a bunch of dates laying around…and my mom loves dates! Perfect! Continue reading →

Sauv Blanc Pound Cake with berries and cream.

Sauv Blanc Pound Cake with berries and cream.

When I first saw this recipe for Sauvignon Blanc Pound Cake I immediately thought of my mom. Sauv Blanc is her wine of choice, and of course her great taste has rubbed off on me, and it’s my go-to wine. Pinot Grigio is so 2006 (her old go-to, but still really good)!

I wasn’t sure what the end product would taste like, some cakes tend to come out pretty boozy, but this one ended up tasting close to a classic pound cake. I thought serving this cake with berries and whipped cream was a must, but Jordan told me he liked it plain with just butter….so you can be the judge of what you like best! Continue reading →

Quiche with Hashbrown Crust.

How have I never heard of a Quiche with a hashbrown crust? Have I been living under a rock all of these years? Why isn’t this the standard way to make a quiche?!? All questions I asked myself upon discovering this awesome recipe.

Let me tell you something. I tend to be weird about eggs, so quiches don’t come around too often in my kitchen. But I have been waiting for the perfect occasion to make this, and Mother’s Day Brunch was the perfect time. I was nervous about how it was going to turn out, but only received rave reviews. Relaxing outside for Sunday Brunch at Bravehorse.

Hopefully one day I will be able to share every incredible Tom Douglas restaurant with you. I have been to about half of his establishments already, and they never disappoint. I think anyone who travels to Seattle should try to go to at least one of his restaurants, whether it be Serious Pie, Dahlia Lounge, Lola, Bravehorse…the list goes on! I would say almost everyone who goes to Bravehorse gets a pretzel. There are too many awesome dipping sauces, such as chocolate hazelnut…

Pretzel with hazelnut chocolate dip. There are MANY more dips to choose from!

The Outstanding Bloody Mary comes with a Ranier Chaser! Is this normal? I don’t care if it is or not…it’s awesome.

Chicken Fried Steak Brunch Special.

Hearth Oven Baked Eggs – avocado, leeks, roasted pasilla chiles, goat cheese toast

I think the thing about Tom Douglas is each restaurant has a pretty specific theme, so you are getting a fun, unique and different dining experience at each establishment. I would also recommend Bravehorse for the nightlife, it’s a 21+ establishment with shuffleboard, jello shots, dart boards…so the night crowd can get a little rowdy. The brunch menu is loaded with lots of hangover cures to match. I’m feeling a “Part II” post coming on…

Smoked Whitefish and Lox Plate

Stopsky’s has become one of our go-to places close to home. We have encountered some of the best servers in the greater Seattle area here…Everyone who works at Stopsky’s has tons of personality and makes our dining experience totally enjoyable. Plus the food rocks! Lots of unique items on the menu, and an irresistible pastry case (That I of course did not get a picture of). But still…feast your eyes on all the delicious-ness below! They also let us bring Otto when we sit outside 🙂

Mimosas and Bloody Marys…Obviously!
